Weddings
An intimate wedding in the bride and groom’s hometown of Benicia, California. My wife officiated and I did all the photos. This event covers 4 different locations. It was an excellent chance to explore poses, movement, and environmental photography, and I loved capturing their big day.

Natural Landscapes
My second favorite type of photography is landscapes. I am a big advocate of ‘f8 and be there’ - a way of connecting with the land, and capturing a mood that emerges. Landscape photography is an excuse for me to explore and discover, and hopefully a way to create appreciation for the diversity and breadth of nature.

Portraits
One of my favorite subjects is capturing naturalistic portraits of life’s big moments. Portraiture is an excellent way to work with people, and I love seeing people light up when they’ve been captured in a way that expresses themselves.

Graduations
My wife’s graduation with her PhD in Nursing from Samuel Merritt University. I’ve shot several graduations, and it’s important to capture not only the event itself, but the excitement and joy of the graduate and the family.

Environmental Documentation
My favorite type of photography is environmental documentation because it uses all the elements of photography to get at the essence of a place. When I shoot an environment, I’m using composition, subjects, texture, movement, and lighting to express the heart of a moment.

Street
Street photography is by far the most challenging photography medium because it combines so many challenging elements: timing, framing, candidness all in rapid succession. None of it is planned, and it requires dedication. But it’s very rewarding to find a passing scene that will never be recreated again.
