Making a photo(grapher)

Photography all started for me when my dad handed me his old Nikon film camera in 2002. I practiced the craft with my Dad, but didn’t take it seriously. When I moved from Washington to California I became more serious about photography. When I wasn’t working, I grabbed my camera and hit the open road…

I met my travel companion in Leica. With a camera in hand, I had an license to explore freely. My rambling trips to Yosemite or Kingman on Route 66 have etched the beginnings of my documentary style travel photos.

Over the past decade I’ve been shooting 35mm and 120mm almost exclusively. I prefer film for the tonal range and the mindfulness that accompanies each composition. But when time or professionalism is in demand, I still use my digital camera to capture events, such as weddings or portraits.

Each shot meant something to me, and I hope others can find similar value in them as well!
